Default Quaife Differentials?

All,

I know, I know, before doing any mods I should know exactly what I what the mod to do. I know jack about cars, so I wanted to get some input regarding the Quaife diffrentials- what kind of a difference will I notice with these? My car is a 2005 ragtop, normally aspirated. I friend put some in his bmv and loves them, but that's probably comparing apples to oranges. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Unless you are a serious track junkie with a lot of experience and a lot of supporting mods, you wouldn't notice a difference between the stock Torsen LSD compared to a quaife

I agree on the part about experience, but even on the street you'll notice the difference. I'd focus on other parts of the car before worrying about an LSD, though. The stock unit is fine for a mildly modded car.

If you are driving legally on the street, then I would expect any noticeable difference to be an annoying one.

Quaife is also Torsen. The difference between LSDs are Torsen and Clutch type. Torsen are good for drag racing for hard launches. Clutch type are more for road course and drifting. On a Torsen, when one wheel lifts up off the ground it becomes open diff. On clutch pack they will both continue spinning / distributing the power evenly (depending if you have a 1.5way or 2.0 way.)

IMO Quaife for drag racing and Kaaz for road course or drift.
