Default Problem Closing Hood

Anyone else have a trouble closing their hood with the Cusco cooling plate? Just installed one on the car, and I'm having trouble getting the hood to shut.

Help?

If the cooling plate is installed, remove it. I believe there is also a plastic cover over the latch. Once you get that off, you will see the 10mm bolts (i think) that hold the latch in place. Loosen them enough to be able to adjust the latch up/down. It make take a few tries to get the latch in the correct position, but keep at it until the hood closes properly.

This is a common problme with the jdm and knock off cooling plates. They are inproperly designed, when you close the hood, the latch bump area hits the cooling plate. I had the same problem with a cooling plate I had a long time ago. I raised the hood latch untill the hood closed, but it looked like crap becuse the hood was .200 inch higher than the bumper. This is why Alloy craft has this area releived on their cooling plates

Make sure you remove the metal piece under the rubber seal before you install the heat shield. You just need the rubber seal when installing the heat shield. For the hood latch you just need you need to loosen the bolts holding the latch, then you can move the latch a bit. Get it in the right position before you tighten down the bolts again.

Interesting. I'd purchased a knock-off via craigslist. Same issue, simply couldn't close the hood without adjusting the latch. And of course when it was latched it was slightly high. I noticed every time I looked at the car and... off it came.

just adjust the latch and if the hood ends up being higher than the bumper, just put some small washers or shims under the front bumper where it bolts down to the body by the latch. may need longer bolts. adjusted my hood latch due to my j's racing snorkel rubbing on hood causing the hood to be higher. i just grabbed 3 rubber washers like about 3mm thick and put them under where the bumper bolts down on the 3 middle screw/bolts. after that the bumper and hood actually lined up better than factory!
