OEM Hood Venting, Ideas/results?

I think its funny how many people think the top of the hood is a high pressure area.
When I drive in the rain, water is on my hood just sitting there. It just stays there it doesn't get blown off even at 80 mph. So much for high pressure on the top of the hood, it cant even blow off the water.

ha well looks like I forgot that point and yes your correct i remember that now... So instead of vented hood could you produce a channel that runs from the front of the car over the intake to the blocked off part near the header? IK I am starting to stretch it now but just wondering.

The header doesn't produce any heat at all. It just leaks conducts heat from the exhaust. The best we to cool the engine bay is to reduce the heat that the header conducts. You can do this by adding heat shield(s), header wrap, and / or having it coated with a thermal barrier, like Jet Hot.
BTW, I find it funny how people make assumptions about pressure based on rain drops.

One way to look at things - the real issue is engine heat management, not what's going on in the engine bay. Controlling the cooling system of the engine and intake air as best as possible is where performance comes from, but engines have optimal temp ranges so overcooling won't do anything for you. How often and under what circumstances do ppl find the cooling system struggling to remain under the high-end of optimum, and what needs to be done to keep it in range?
