need engine rebuild
so my piston rod developed a knock and the honda guy says i need a 5k rebuild. that was my s/c money and i dont want to spend all this to make my car back to stock. should i get 10:1 comp. pistons for when i go boost, build a high comp. engine with agressive cams for a n/a build, stroke it, or go to stock. this is my only car and it will need to be reliable and pass aircare in vancouver.

wtf is he charging you 5K for? what are the parts that he recommends replacing? is your crank scarred? I say pick up a used motor, put new bearings, rings, etc in it and then keep saving for your supercharger.

Buy a new 2.2L short block from Honda or a good used motor. I wouldn't trust anyone to rebuild one of these motors other than a very limited number of shops ... Laskey Racing ... Endyn ... to name a few.

it really depends on your budget and how much power you want in the end, but I would personally get a used motor(might as well do a f22 swap) and go from there. At least you have peace of mind its reliable.

Stock rebuild, looking for advise on rods, sleeves and pistons
Hello, our s2000 has a blown to pieces engine, we bought a barely running engine for 1700, the block needs sleeving, we are wanting new rods pistons and sleeves. resourcing these is proving to be difficult. we would like to pick your brains to source good quality components. thank you in advance.
