Default MY2000 Hardtop Install Help

I might be purchasing an OEM hardtop. While my S2K is a my2000 (vin # is 8,000 something), the hardtop would be coming off a my2003. Few questions (got help from search, but couldn't find exact answers to all of my questions):

1) I assume it's OK to run WITHOUT the defrost, right? I'd rather not fool with the harness, wiring, etc.
2) Is it OK to use my soft top catchers/strikers, or is it 100% necessary to upgrade to newer/hardtop ones?
3) Does the top panel with black "brushes" (that basically just cover the gap) need to replaced? It looks like the brushes were shortened at some point in time, to better accommodate hardtops.
4) What exact pieces of hardware would need to come off the my2003 and be installed on my my2000 for the top to work?

Thanks!

1) It is. I do.
2) It is but I think the hardtop strikers are of a harder material.
3) You can remove the brush panel from the larger interior panel or trim the brushes.
4) Rear catchers that mount to the frame of the car and the hardtop itself. (and the longer bolts that hold the catchers to the frame.)

Use the above info at your own peril.

the black brushes part should be replaced with the one from 2003, as it has clearances cut out for the the latching mechanism.
