Lost almost 4 lbs off my intake manifold
I'm cleaning up a few parts prior to reassembling my supercharged 2 liter engine. Thought I would share this with you. Those that know me understand that I like to decrease weight any chance I get.
With the smog pump removed I figured removing the smog parts of the manifold would save a little weight. I can not run a factory TB with this intake manifold so the manifold is no good for smog anyway so......
Hogged out the exhaust gas system and totally removed it except for the one stud to mount a future N20 solenoid. No need for the block off plate.
Welded up the gas and coolant passages. Totally removed both systems.
There is a massive steel brace that connects the intake manifold to the engine.
I was able to remove a few ounces from that bracket too.
Final manifold is 3 lb 14 oz lighter after thinning, removing and polishing.
