Since the rasp is much worse with VTEC engaged, I decided to do another quick set of recordings with VTEC engaging at 6K.

Thank you for the r&d....i am interested and hoping this will allow me to get rid of the apexi ats silencer on my ark dts single (my cr lack sound insulation and drone like a mofo) Do you think this will work well with a kraftwerk system and the extra chamber in the dts?

I made another adapter pipe last night to allow me to connect my other mufflers to the new mid-pipe, and swapped out the Q300 mufflers with my Borla Dingle. I really, really wish it would be possible for me to offer a full system with this Borla muffler, since it has such an awesome tone and makes more power than any other muffler I've tested (including the straight through 3" Magnaflow single).

BTW, I don't know what is causing the rattle noise. It's new ...

what are the Y axis on these graphs? The X is obviously RPM. I've been following this but I must have missed it somewhere

The Y axis is a linear representation of the sound level. It is not standardized by any "unit", like dB or SPL. It is just a value from the FFT algorithm that I run on the digital recording.
Thank you sir!

Are you getting drone from the ARK because you aren't using the OEM cat?

Now that I'm a sponsor (and hopefully will be a vender soon), I shouldn't criticize other sponsors, but I really, really don't like the Ark DTS at all. The Helmholtz chamber that they added is truly a "band-aid". Instead of designing the pipe so that it would naturally NOT drone, they added the chamber to simply cancel out the drone. There's nothing wrong with that approach when you have control over the whole system, but it won't work for people that are going to mix and match other parts in the system. Helmholtz chambers have such a small operating range, anything you change about the other parts in the system will move the drone outside of that range. That said, I actually don't know if my mid-pipe would mate well with the Ark DTS. Without testing it, I can't say for sure what that combo would be like.

On the other hand, I do believe that my mid-pipe will be awesome for SC applications. I can't wait to see test results from that, since I suspect that SC's might get the most benefit of all.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I'm running the Asura 3 inch HFC with the ARK. Worst case scenario I can always cut the Helmholtz and plug the hole.
