I have Raybrig or whatever LEDs, and are far better than the Polarg bulbs I had. I've tried cheap LEDs, nice ones, and those stupid bulbs.
nice LED > stupid bulbs > cheapo LEDs
However, the good LEDs are very expensive.

I know this is a really old post I am reviving, but I have some decent advice to offer, as I have modified my dome light setup. First, you can buy pre-built LED bulbs at SuperBrightLEDs fairly cheaply.
Second, the key to good, uniform glow with an LED is to give it a reflective surface to glow from. I took the dome light housing out of the car, and then painted it with some silver spray paint I had from another project. Let it dry, reinstall, and plug in the new bulb with the point of the LED facing the housing, not the vehicle interior. Voila, bright, white, uniform light.
I did this for every light in the car. I also replaced the LEDs in the dash (the green and amber ones) with red LEDS. You need to be able to do some simple circuit board soldering for that, though. I also had to sand the LEDs, since the green ones in the HVAC are weird ovals.

^ Cool man. I just have some ebay LED white dome lights and they illuminate pretty well. I also tore my controls apart and replaced all the green indicator lights too. Mine are currently white, and the Rec button is red, and all my background lights are blue with a red engine start button. All LED's that I soldered. I made a DIY for that from another set I did with blue indicators and stuff. If anyone is interested in that, go to the library in the interior section I believe, and see the LED dash lights.

i tried this out on my daily car, and its ALOT brighter than the stockers. Its like a house florescent light if you ask me to compare it. bought it for 10 bucks here in my country.

i replaced my dome and plate lights with LEDs (don't remember where i got them from online) and they are tremendously brighter than a stock regular bulb, the posts from 2008 are funny, "leds are not bright!"
