LED Dome light conversion
#4
Takeshi, LEDs are uni-directional (this is why they're not used for headlights, the light difuses too quickly over the range headlights are used for).
It is possible to buy directional LEDs, but most LEDs picked up from Radio Shack are unidirectional.
To install an LED, all one would need is to know which wire in the light fixture is + and which is -, and the voltage supplied to the stock fixture. Make sure that you wire up your LED(s) to be able to handle the voltage supplied to the fixture (wire in parallel to divide the voltage). IE: 12v power supplied to the fixture (might have been reduced to 5v somewhere, etc) and LEDs are rated for 1V each, wire all 12 LEDs in parallel (all positive leads are attached to each other electrically, all negative leads are attached together electrically).

I was looking into LED's b/c I was in an IS250 the other day and it has 5 LED's for the driver (in the dome fixture) and 5 for the passenger and they are brighter than the OEM s2000 setup. I want something much brighter than what we have from the factory. I was looking into some bulbs but they all burn out a lot faster than factory bulbs.
