Default K&N FIPK vs. Air Charger

I've downloaded the installation instructions for both the FIPK and Air Charger intakes which includes a part number list. They are identical down to the last bolt. K&N's literature says that the Air Charger utilizes a higher flow air filter but the part numbers are the same for the S2000. It just seems odd to me that K&N woulld carry a separate part number and declare it not CARB certified. Does anyone know if there is actually any difference between the two intakes?

Exactly....57 series is the FIPK and the 63 series is the AC.

If they are the same perhaps you can get the CARB exemption sticker from K&N.

Any links the the Air Charger?

I just ordered the FIPK... no clue what the Air Charger is, and I checked the K&N site.

I've e-mailed K&N about this and I plan on calling tomorrow. I will ask them about your situation if I find out that they are, in fact, the same. I'll post up here if I can actually get to someone that can help with this at K&N.

I just spoke to K&N about this and the 57 series FIPK and the 63 seies Air Charger are in fact identical. They could not be definitive about why they carry two part numbers. My guess is that the S2000 may be the exception in that the air filter they use of the S2000 FIPK is the largest that will fit in this application. Perhaps they can get larget filters in other cars.

Shotiable...K&N said that you can get a CARB sticker for the 63 series since it's identical. Go to www.knfilters.com/decal.htm or click below.
