Question

[QUOTE=Elistan,Feb 28 2008, 12:22 PM]Once ignited, I don't see how the flame front propogation speed of an air/fuel mixture has anything to do with the wattage of the ignition source?

They claim 1 million watts over a time of 2 billionths of a second.

Hehe, looks like I got my energy/power terms screwed up. A watt is a joule per second, so it's silly for me to talk about watts per second.

You're correct - the pulsed plug, given their numbers, does release a greater amount of energy. It remains to be shown if their ignition method can extract further energy from the fuel combustion.

I am following that thread as well. I am waiting for a 3rd party confirmation of the results and some solid idea of which plug to use in a boosted application.

I may be oversimplifying this, but what differnece does the amount of spark make?

The spark is simply to ignite the fuel / air mixture, which when it expands makes the power. I don't see how the size or length of time of the spark would make a difference. As soon as there is spark, there is ignition (provided the spark is of a minimum capacity to ignite the mixture).

That's what we're wondering.

[QUOTE=Spectre48,Feb 29 2008, 09:49 AM] For reference, there is approx 13,333 millionths of second between sparks @ 9,000 rpm on the crankshaft. Only for us AP1 guys though.

The old adage, "If it seems too good to be true, it usually is", seems to be in order with this product.

I read a article in a recent magazine where they tested it on a VQ motor, EVO and a integra. The plugs gained 2-3 HP across the board. They compared brand new plugs to the pulstar. Seems like alot of money for 2-3 Hp but then again we do pay 800 something dollars for intakes.

I took a look at the thread on s2kca, looks like the poll isnt going for the plugs. Even if its a modest gain in hp, i would be willing to try em if gas milage improves.
