Default intake, test pipe, and exhaust

My plan is to get K&N FPK, Invidia 70mm test pipe and Invidia q300 dual. I have the money now to get these parts, but I dont have the money for a tune. Since 99-03 s2k's run lean from factory, is this gonna make it even worse? The last I want is running into another problem because I really cant afford to. Thanks

You don't really have to, but I would highly recommend it. Even with those mods you could run pretty lean, especially considering you have an 03 (02-03 ECU's run leaner than 00-01 ECU's). You are fine driving it and everything but be careful, maybe invest in a wideband if you get those mods to monitor your AFRs to make sure you don't run too lean. Also you still probably won't gain much with those mods just bolting them on, a tune is what brings most of the power out of them and would be very safe to drive it hard.

hmmmm thanks alot... considering its gonna cost about $900 for inatke, test pipe, and exhaust. I would need an aftermarket ECU for tuning purposes right? so that would be around $1000 or so and to get it tune would be like $400 or so. I'm looking at around $2290 give or take for a 10-20 HP the most. Might as well save for a supercharger!!!

Exactly! I've gone through my fair share of bolt ons without a tune, and couldnt get myself to pay almost $1000 for an EMS and almost $500 to drive and get a proper tune just for 20whp extra. I'm also saving for a supercharger if I can get my VIS mugen hardtop sold.

Just get the exhaust and test pipe if you really want it, even if you save for a supercharger you will probably want a nice exhaust to get the best gains. So you will end up getting it anyways. Go ahead and get the exhaust/test pipe and have fun with it and don't worry, then you can slap a supercharger on there and not have to replace any parts you bought.

The 00-01 ap1 runs richer than the 02-03, but the ap2s all run leaner than any ap1.
