Thumbs up how many turns do u get on your lug nuts

i have 5mm spacers up front i was told i needed them for some 17"ssr sp1 wheels but the lug nuts only get like maybe 3 1/2 to 4 turns and i dont feel verry safe im thinking of trying to run them without the spacers but the brake calliper might be to close to the rim ..my question is will i be o.k with the lugs..? or should put on the extended lugs..?

I've heard 5mm is ok with stock studs, but if your gut instinct tells you that it doesn't seem like there is enough thread engagement then you're probably right.

I've read that you need to engage as many threads as the diameter of the lug bolt. So if the S2000's bolt is 12 mm in diameter at a pitch of 1.5 mm per thread, you'll need 8 turns to engage 12 mm worth of threads.

A fellow autocrosser with a WRX once ran spacers and only had 4 turns on his lug nuts (needed about 10-11 to meet the above rule of thumb). His lug nuts stripped the lug bolt threads and his wheel popped off the car during an autocross.

5mm and you only get 4 turns? are you sure the rims is sitting right?

usually 5mm is the max for stock stud but in your case 4 turns is pretty dangerious

I'd try a 3mm spacer, that should be OK with stock studs. Changing out wheels studs is not an easy process.
