Default Help removing Mugen shift knob

Hi

I recently bought a S2000 and it came with a Mugen shift knob. The previous owner doesn't know how to take it off and I've checked the internet and couldn't find a way. There is a hole where the Mugen nut is and I tried putting an Allen key in there and turning clockwise facing down. It doesn't move at all and it's turning the shifter itself. I also tried turning counter-clockwise and doesn't loosen either.

Anyone have any ideas?

Kind of obvious but did you try just turning it? It doesn't look like there is anything in that hole on the side.

Don't know if the Mugen comes with an alignment nut, but Loctite may have been used to position the knob so the engraving was straight. Some heat may be needed.

I'm pretty sure this is what it comes with

The bar looking thing I'm assuming just sticks into the hole in the nut and you just rotate it, but it's not working for me

Ah there we go. Try warming it up with a hair dryer or heat gun. You may have to apply a good amount of force on it to get it to break free.

Sounds good, just curious, how do you know that its bonded on with Loctite or that heat is required?

If you can't stick something in that hole and twist it off something is likely holding it. Mine twists off easily but between the lock but and it being on there for a while (I assume if the previous owner took it off regularly it would be easy to take off and he would know how) it is either held on with locktite or is just kinda stuck.

I hope I'm not stating the obvious but you do have to turn the lock nut (clockwise) and the shift knob (counter-clockwise) at the same time to loosen everything.
