Default Hardtop weather stripping

Put my hardtop on over the weekend

When I test fit the new window weather stripping, I only went to the bottom of the hardtop, left a pretty bad gap.

I should have run it all the way down to the drain

Better but not great

On the passenger side, I ran the weatherstripping all the way to the drain, but the seal is still bad.

Anyone have any clever tips for sealing this up better?

If you want a decent seal you have to use OEM (style) seals

Anyone have a pic of what the oem weather stripping looks like in that part of the door?

it looks like your soft top. i'm saying we used the 3 metal plates and seals that go on the soft top. soft top up, same shape as hard top around the glass.

what about this?

ive bought products from Ballade before, I’m not a fan.

This portion right here, this is what the Forbidden seals don’t address. I need to see what I can come up with.

I don’t have any long distance trips coming up but I’m thinking about trying to mold something up. If anyone has any ideas, I’m willing to experiment.

find a junker soft top. use the metal rails and foam seals. screw 11,12,13 to the hard top, then snap 5,6,7 on. heres a set of used ones but you need the backing plates.

The OEM hardtop seals sell for $200 per side. One of the reasons I’ve avoided those is because I don’t have an oem top, it’s a Mugen replica. I called Forbidden before ordering and they said this was what everyone uses. I wish they would have included a small detail about running the seal tucked under the bottom corner before running it up and around the window. I’m probably going to order another set of seals from Forbidden, that another $100 for what should be about $30 of rubber.

Just got off the phone with Forbidden, great customer support. We talked for a while on what the problem was and how we could fix it. They even offered to sell me another set at cost if that was what was needed.
