Hardtop latches and strikers / catchers? Are they the same for SOFT and HARD tops?

Exactly what I did. It made horrible clunking sounds on the driver windshield over bumps because it was so loose. Fine tuned it when I got home but still couldnt get it tight enough. Substituted hardtop strikers for softtop strikers, greased it all up, still noisier than a fixed top but unavoidable. Rode in a couple of CRs, and their hardtops make noise.

I just bought a S with OEM hard top yesterday and notice rattling coming from the rear mounting points. Or at least that's where I think it's coming from. The guys at the dealer I bought it from had a hard time putting the top back on after I asked them to remove it so I can inspect the soft top. I'm not sure if the strikers are the hard top version. Also at highway speeds I notice a lot of wind noise coming from the rear.

Could the rattle and wind noise be caused by them not setting the top on right?

Can the hardware on the car be adjusted for a tighter fit?
