Hardtop latches..

Hardtop latches..
As of now im having trouble getting my front latches to latch TIGHT. Im using the soft top latches and there's noticable play in them when latched down. I've been using 2 small silicone hose cut outs to fit over the hooks in order dor them to latch properly.
So what I want to know is... are hardtop latches any different than soft top latches?

They are a bit bigger and don't wear down on the contact spot as easily.
Edit: I was talking about strikers. Do you mean strikers or latches?

yes there is a difference between soft top and hard top latches. the hooks are a lot thicker for a better grab.
is this a replica hard top? i was going to suggest the tubing over the hooks but seems you did that already.
are your strikers worn down? if its a MY00-01, id upgrade to the thicker strikers on 02+

Its a mugen replica and have a MY 07. I think I'm confused on part names but the problem im having is that the "hook" on each front latch has some play in it when latched all the way so ive been using small silicone hose cutouts to fit over the hooks just so the play goes away and have a tighter seal. So there are different hardtop latches? That could solve this problem? Could someone post the part #'s for everything i would need... includong bolts, washers etc..? Thanks all... I'll post pics when this is all done

Justin, there are indeed "hardtop" only latches, they're about $80 a pop on Majestic. Hardware is the same, but the latch p/n is

Do you think buying them would solve my problem? Are the hardtop latches a different size than the soft top latches?

They might, they might not. Without inspection of your catchers and latches I can't say for sure. I had hardtop latches and they never latched very tight.
Do you have any shims installed between the latch and the hardtop? If you do, you can remove some.
