Default GT500 Hood vent

This is the hood vent that I used. I ordered mine on Ebay though for a little less ($88 shipped)
http://www.americanm...-1012gt500.html

Installation is pretty straight forward. When I cut my hood out, I did lose the factory hood prop hole though I plan on just cutting another one out.

I ended up modifying the vent significantly to rivet it on because I was not patient enough to cut the hood exactly to fit the vent. You could absolutely cut it perfectly and use the factory vent mounting but it will take a lot of measuring and cutting. My car is mostly a track car these days so it wasn't that big of a deal to me.

My vent was centered around the maximum differential pressure region of the hood but if you are just doing it for looks you have a lot more flexibility.

Took approximately 2.5hrs start to finish.

Anything to let the heat escape from the engine compartment is always good.

looks pretty nice. u could also add hood spacers to help release engine heat too.

I have a vented hood the exhausts heat in a similar location (J's Type S style hoods) and it has made a huge difference on my underhood temps and intake temps, I did it mostly for looks but the cooling benefit was a nice bonus. Definitely a plus for track use.

It reduces lift due to a pressure differential on the bottom/top of the hood. Pressure is higher on the bottom of the hood thus lifting the front of the vehicle.

Hood spacers on the rear allow air under the hood due to the laminar bubble that forms under the free air stream which separates from the hood and reattached on the roof. The laminar bubble in this region is slow moving air thus causing a high pressure region. Hood spacers do not provide any benefits unless used as a cowl intake.

Looks good, did it make the hood more delicate...cutting the supports?

Doesn't seem to. I did bend the stock supports and catch them with rivets though. I think the hood is light enough that it isn't that big of a deal.
