just wondering, i am plannin on getting a koni/gc combo with gc top hats.

so i got on the search and tried searching around but alot of the posts i get are outdated, from way before ground control became a popular option.

so, i'm wondering, how is the ride? i want a firmer more controlled ride, but i dont want the infamous ricer bounce.

also, how do they do on minor bumps? the coilovers on my old car handles big bumps very well but it picked up every little single bump in the road and at times it was kind of annoying.

I don't have that setup, but from what I've heard it's very good, and the ride quality is great.

BTW, that "ricer bounce" that you're talking about is caused by people driving around on springs with blown shocks that have completely lost their dampening ability... which wouldn't be a problem with a Koni/GC set up.

yea that's what i thought. either blown shocks or springs too stiff for the shocks. but i hear the koni's are good to 500lbs. i'm most likely going with a 400/350 setup so i assume i should be fine.

My setup is 15% (ish) stiffer than stock. Lowered and no problems.

GC on konis is an excellent setup, especially for the money. I have koni yellows on my GTI and they perform well, although I have broken 3 of them due to very strong springs (within the specs though), hard track runs, and shitty roads. oh and all three were broken in only 25k miles

Go with GC with koni yellow, great combo

make sure to get the special perch with that set up.

not sure how well the stock shock will handle the drop tho'

what spring rates did you use.

and did you cut out the lower perch from the stock shock? does it just come off?

how about just the GC, how long do you guys think that would last? i had that on a 2000 si and it lasted for almost a year, of course i did not race, hard launches, etc.

Looks like you have GC's with stock shocks...
The GC/Koni setup allows for quite a bit of adjustability. I went with the "street" setup 375 f and 325 r springs and Koni adjustables, and I couldn't be happier. If you track alot you may want to go with a stiffer spring combo. I'm not really lowered...approx. 1/2" all around, I didn't want to bottom out/scrape everywhere. I'm running 3/4 of max on the Koni's.

I would like to give a big thumbs up for the Spugen guys and their GC/Koni group buy...they are great guys, and good reps. for the S2k community.
