It's true that you can't blame Fumoto, but it still added a slight negative to your experience. Thanks for the unbiased review, opinions and experience.

I've been using the FV for about 8 years and a total of 400,000 miles (in 3 different vehicles). I agree that it should have came with an aluminum/copper washer. But that didn't take away the functionality and performance of the product.

This is how I would rate the Fumoto:

Fitment: 9/10 because sometimes it doesn't sit exactly at the 12 o'clock position. And you have to be careful not to over tighten.

Function: 10/10 Doesn't leak, saves a lot of time, has never failed me.

Materials: 9/10 Good machining, threads are smooth, they could have used better washers and I would feel better - but for me, it didn't make a difference in performance (especially for the miles I've already had on it)

Overall score for me is: 9.5/10

Hope you guys enjoy them. I sure have.
3 cars, soon to be 4 cars I've had with it. It just makes oil changes so easy.

not sure why that bears weight but im sure its fine. push come to shove, id just take a piece of hose thats the right size and slide it over the top to help prevent the switch from lifting up.

If you look on this page, near the bottom, there are two posts (1 quoted) that account for track usage.

Also, a local member has used them on his S2000 as well.

Also, the lever has a locking mechanism that requires probably 10 pounds of force to unlock, then simultaneously turn in order to start the flow of oil.

The only way I can see that this valve "might" open unintentionally is if somehow the undercarriage of the car became intangled in wire and through some astromically and mathimattical fate of unbelievable bad luck, was able to perform the two functions in exact sequence and timing. Could it happen? I would guess it is possible and would make it a million to one on the probability scale.

it's going to be tough to make a universal fitting valve that stop at 12o'clock but you can use a jam nut to rotate the mount so the it will always points at the way you wanted it

think of it as the oem knobs, the pattern is facing you because you use a jam nut to lock it in place, instead of the end of thread

just installed one too. i'm happy with it.

as i mentioned in the gb thread, i used blue locktite on the threads before installing.

haven't driven the car since the install several days ago, but no leaking oil in the garage.

not that changing oil is a difficult task...but it saves a lot of time and avoiding getting on your back is nice.
