Default Full Review/Critique JDP Rear Diffuser

Hi members of the s2000 family.

i've been searching endlessly with which diffuser to go with, was able to narrow it down to either voltex or JDP. i have then decided to give it a shot at the JDP rear diffuser for a more OEM/Clean finish.

HUGE THANKS to VIETGUY03 and his wife, for helping with the installation, this will be an impossible job to do without their help!

the following review is not solely with my own opinion, Vietguy03 is 100% with me, in regards to the problem we have experienced during the installation.

Here down is the review with picture,

took a snap shot with my phone of the box when i saw it at my door. the box is busted on both ends

unboxed the diffuser for inspection, found a crack on the passenger side exhaust port.

the following morning, decides to install the diffuser

found a bigger crack with bondo behind it.... which means the diffuser was damaged prior to shipping.

tried to fit the diffuser on to the bumper but was not successful at first attempt, so started cutting, notice i use the word 'cutting'. after hours of cutting this is how much i have to cut off for it to fit.

the JDP rear diffuser was able to be installed nicely except for the under body panel that has full contact with the exhaust 'Y' piping. (will take it off and check in a day or 2).

Final installed picture

Review:

Good: looks amazing! flows with the car very well especially with the CR.

Bad: tons and tons of cutting/sanding is required, as you can see the picture has gone from bright light to dim garage light, because it took us 10 hours to try to get the diffuser to fit correctly. Started 10am-8pm finished. and as far as the under body panel, i have no idea how i can solve the issue.

Welcome g.guess88 :-) I was glad to offer the help!

Thoughts and opinions from me:

1. Carbon Fiber quality seemed up to par with other diffusers I have seen. Note, there was one minor weave that didn't look set properly, however it was underneath the car and was out of sight.

2. Included materials were adequate, 3m adhesive was excellent with bonding solution provided.

3. PDF directions where straight forward and visually depicted necessary steps.

Cons:

1. Installation time - after several hours of cutting and sanding and prepping I felt like this perhaps was a bad mold. Seemed like there was a lot of modification needed to make this piece fit.

2. Crack on the bonding edge. This was out of sight but it could continue to crack if left undressed. We used bondo to help with this problem and hopefully it will prevent any further cracking.

Hopefully this helps people out, and perhaps we did get a bad mold. It happens sometimes and I am not ruling that out of this particular situation.

Why didn't you just send it back?

The more of those I see, the more I think they were designed for the factory exhaust.

also, is it guaranteed to work with your aftermarket exhaust? if it was, then even more reason to send it back (before you hacked it up), if it wasn't guaranteed to fit, then i'm not sure why it's the manufacturer's fault.

thanks for all the response above^^^, i had made the call to not send it back and gave the go for trying to make it fit. i've asked a few other members on here about the diffuser, they all had to trim it for it to fit, even after trimming they were not able to have it fit flush 100%. what suprised me was the amount that needed to be cut.

this is not an article to try to blame the manufacture for the mistake, its here purely for people who are considering buying the diffuser a heads up. in my case its more extreme.

i love the look after it is installed, thats what i think matters the most

It looks amazing... I had to cut a piece of the middle section so that it will not touch the Greddy SE... No big deal.

Looks good. I don't think any diffuser is meant to be installed on an S without the stock exhaust. I had issues installing my APR one as well. Barely worked and even now it hits the y pipe on my Invidia Q300.
