So what is the difference between this one and the Challenge?
Challenge loves to overprice their product. Since they were the only manufacture that had a OEM top in CF, they can price it whatever they want.
Challenges top is FULL cf at 4k without OEM hardware.
I can easily make a pre preg top (dry carbon) and still beat that price (8-10lbs top alone)
Challenges top is about 25lb with rear window installed.
My top will be around 20-22lbs with rear window lexan installed. Tops can be made lighter upon request.
Update: FRP top is made and will be getting pictures up soon. CF 1x1 and 2x2 should be out by the end of the week.
Challenge actually makes less profit margin on this roof than probably any other item we make despite your claim we just like to overcharge. Our carbon techs produce parts for Indy car, Grand AM, Honda Racing and other pro race teams and that labor and skill does not come cheaply unfortunately.
We made this top with the oem shaved moldings to meet our race car needs and the needs of a few others that wanted the same. Our top is full dry laid carbon inside and out, all layers as well as a carbon kevlar inner layer to help catch any carbon shards in an event of a major crash or roll over. Our roof also accepts the oem roof liner and all components. This adds cost and time to making/triming the inner frame.
We also love to innovate and try to bring some new things to market designed from scratch opposed to making replica parts our core business.
Our current roof we actually have down to 21 lbs with the lexan installed after a few adjustments. We can make it much lighter, but it gets to a point where it can become fragile and not take bumps or frequent handling as well so we choose not to do so.
Were glad you guys were able to do something in FRP as our labor costs didnt allow it to be a good fit for our customers. Just wanted to set some things straight you were a little off on. Thank you.
