Default Flex Seal on Soft Top Rips

Well Spring is here in beautiful California and Im seeing a ton of convertibles out going topless. It's been awhile since Ive removed my hardtop due to the rips on my softop. But the weather is too good to pass up so Im going to attempt to fix these rips again.

All that gunk you see under the soft top is numerous attempts to seal the rips with various products... all have failed...

I just applied some flex Seal on two rips on my soft top. Not sure if anyone tried it.. Waiting for the first couple of layers to dry before I apply a few more coats.

Does it jack it up when you put the top down?

If you don't wait a week or two of total dry time it'll immediately mess up.but it just resplit after a few months and didn't hold.and if I touched it with my finger it had little black spots on it.

Note however mine were on the stress points.my buddy who used it for the middle of the top where he tried to roll the top back with one latch still holding and tore. Fixed with flexseal and is kinda holding up.he redoes it every other month where it starts leaking etc

Here's a tip. First, sew up the tear, as if stitching up a wound. Do as many small, tight, stitches as you can. This will reduce the stress on each stitch during convertible retraction. After, apply some sort of vinyl top repair (I use Stormsure, on Amazon). I used just the stormsure the first time, and the tear opened up. After doing the stitches, its solid as a rock and looks pretty good.

Check out this thread(https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/101...t-top-patches/)

Revvy is kind enough to send out these ballastic nylon patches that you can use with E6000 glue(bought mine at Walmart for $3). It works great. Paypaled a few bucks for his kind services to forum members. I'm out in Los Angeles and was able to put the top down instantly after 1 day. The glue and nylon bonds real well.
