i picked up my 2000 model about two months ago as a daily driver. im a painter for a living and i had some materials left over from a matte black job on a f150 so i decided to shoot mine. i used a single stage hot rod back made by SEM. please excuse the body kit it came on the car lol. the black is only temporary while im gathering my ap2 bumpers then i will do a matte silver or white. yeah i agree the flat black is played out and usually ends up looking like primer. i was able to get a nice semi gloss finish with these materials which doesnt give the faded look. here are some pics at a show along side my mr2 turbo ive been building

flat colors/matte only look good with cars that have a LOT of curves/lines. the s2k is TOO smooth and it kills the point of having matte. matte highlights the shadows /lines on the car (which we have none).
reconsider.
reconsider.
