I put an EZ On top on the Miata I had.I never was happy with the quality & fitment.Have a robbins top on my 03S.I really like it.Seems to be better than OE.

Just my opinion....

I just replaced the ratty, original OEM top on my 00 NFR with the Robbins retrofit with glass window. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the result. Here's a link (below)to the fully captioned picture set showing the whole removal/installation process I posted on facebook (viewable by the public)As you'll see, if you know the secrets of the trade, ie: 1. What to rivet/what not to rivet. 2. The general approach to the install, the work isn't so daunting at all!

ROBBINS IS THE WAY TO GO! Installed myself for a total cost of $583.00. (That's ~439 euro for my friends in Holland and elsewhere in western Europe)

Feel free to PM if anyone has questions about the install.

Same exact thing here - i noticed the patches already in the wear spots. I'm pretty sure my top was the original 13 year old one. Enjoying my new defrost as well

How difficult is the cloth to maintain? I read about the pain in the ass part but I haven't read anything in detail. Wouldn't you just use a cleaner, light brush, and the wash off?

I just use light soap and water and a damp microfiber and lightly rub the top in a noncircular motion. Not any more difficult than any other rag top car.

I have a EZ-ON top and I had a slight stretch wrinkle behind the windows for a bit. I gutted the car and recently reinstalled the softtop + frame and they have gone away. When I first reinstalled it had to be re-stretched. Latches barely made it with me pulling down the center handle. With any of these tops its all about how well they were installed.

Just got a price from Scott Robinson of $1200 for the top and another $1700 for labor-- don't these drop in?

Only way you dropping a softop in is if you bought a soft top+frame already assembled. I think that labor price is a little high.

Dont pay more than $600 for the top! and no more than $500 for installation! ... takes about 8 hours first time and more like 5-6 hours if you do them a lot!
