I just ordered a Robbins top for my car. I plan to do the install myself. I hope it goes well.

Try adding some velcro strips on each side of rear window, about 8 inches long..... I think the OEM top came with these strips but Robbins did not, I did this to my Robbins top and no flapping sound after that...... Of course you could just slow down with the top up......

I replaced my worn OE top with a EZ on top. If I had it to do again, I would have gone for a Robbins top.

The EZ on seems like a bit of a B-quality product to me in terms of fitment and finish, but I prefer cloth to vinyl. An OEM canvas would be ideal, but as that does not exist I think the best option is Robbins.

I have also used an EZ on top and what a misnomer.
Some specific examples:
The rivet holes for the rain channel were not properly lined up.
Rivet holes were not punched completely through. Had to go over all of them with a drill. This was a PITA.
The front corner edges did not have the "pocket" formed. You have to do this yourself with the proper glue.
Cloth is SINGLE stitched on lower rear plastic strap. The OEM is stitched at the top AND bottom of the plastic strip. Single stitching? Really?
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff but this stood out the most.

My next top will not be an EZ on.

i just did ez-on and im happy with it. yes it had areas that were tight but just pull and hold and put top up and in few days itll stretch enuf to secure it better. it was hard to get used to the look but its because they skipped on a few non needed areas. my S is 2003 and its few days from 2013 so the old top will definitely be loose/easy to work with rather the new never been messed with top. i payed 360 with free shipping and i love it! ordered the modifry straps before i did the top and it was easy. the hardest part was finding out which rivets were needed but once i found the info, it was a breeze.

Get a vinyl top. I have a fabric and it collects dust immediately for whatever reason. I use a ton of raggtopp protectant too. However, the vinyl seems to create crease lines/discoloration.

I replaced my original top with a Robbins black cloth top w/glass window (but no defroster) ordered from Topsonline.com and installed by Prestige in Anaheim (for those of you in SoCal .. prestigemobileupholsteryc.com). I'm quite satisfied and recommend both.

Top was $589 + tax and arrived quickly (although I just checked and it seems the price has dropped to about $540). The installation was $600 and worth it; I wanted the top installed correctly and Prestige specializes in this stuff. While I was at it, I also bought two new hardtop strikers ($55) from hardtopguy.com and had the Prestige folks install them, so now the top snaps shut tighter and the car is much quieter, especially on the freeway.

It's a sizable investment but when you consider how crucial it is having a secure-fitting, good-looking top on a convertible S2K, well worth it.

Hope this helps.

I've run OEM, Robbin's and my buddy runs EZ-ON. They are all pretty similar in quality(aftermarket). Of course OEM is best, but I enjoy my robbins for the money, it does flap on the freeway, but it doesn't bother me. The EZ-ON takes the most time to install of the three.
