Default exhaust resonator

Is the placement of a resonator crucial to the persormance of the vehicle. I noticed that on some exhausts the resonator is situated after the cat and abviously before the muffler. I have a Amuse R1 with no resonator and im running a test pipe. I was wondering if it would be possible to place a resonator in the place where the test pipe is. would that location have any negative effects on the car?

you can but i believe there will be a performance loss since it was initially created and tuned without a resonator

Really? That's it?

The info he gave you is inaccurate. The resonator would cost you a fraction of a horsepower and do a lot for your buzzy exhaust.

Why don't you buy a resonated test pipe? A company just came out with some sexy looking ones a few threads below. Putting a resonator in the exhaust doesn't hurt it like one would think. It may or may not be noticeable for me it was, but I am happy because I can finally hear myself think inside my car haha.
