Great info everyone, thanks! I think it's apparent that engaging VTEC lower is better overall.

I wonder if there is a more simple way to change the engagement point though as I suggested in the original post with a resistor or something to that effect?

Just get a vafc for like $75 and your set. Don't need to overthink the whole thing when there are devices there for very cheap that will do it for you and even allow you to tune your car! I got my vafc1 with plug and play harness for $125 shipped. Recently saw a vafc in the FS forum for $75 without the harness. Lowering it down to 5500 or so seems to be the best place for most s2k's. Smooths out the engadgement and makes a little more power. Does make it feel slower though. You won't feel it kick in. You'll hear it but won't feel the same as it does when it kicks in at 6k rpms. Honda put it there to help sell how sweet vtect is by letting you feel the "Kick"
