I did this 2 months a go and the lights look even better. The LED I picked are 3w each because the lights came with 1w LED. I also connect them to drivers. After reading online, driver makes them brighter and last longer. It was a little difficult to fit each LED with it's own driver.

I was also thinking that 3w might get too hot. So I cut a little aluminum plate as a heat sink. I had old AP2 led daytime light that I tested this on. After having them on for two hour I measured the temperature and it was 87F. Usually the melting point for ABS plastic is 221F. So my first test was good.

When I install this on the new lights, I'll take some pictures. These LED and driver can be bought from ebay.

When you used the dremel did you cut the way around the lights or just where the clips are at? I cut all the way around and now the plastic is uneven. Im planning to grind it all the way around until its flat or near flat so I can use less glue. I used a lot of glue to fill in the cracks but the glue never dried, at all. What is the best glue that I can use?

I'm going to close them tonight. I'm using this glue to seal them:

I'm also going over the existing glue to make sure water or humidity doesn't go in. I'll will post pictures on the car.

What are those jack stands resting on? That doesn't look very safe.

If I understand correctly, each of the 9 white LED's of each original light were 1 watt? (As each original LED does not seem to be equipped with any heat sink, I'd think they're only 1/2 watt each at best, maybe less, but you've got them in front of you, I don't.) Your new setup will use 5 x 3 watt LED's in each light that emit yellow/amber only?

Thinking that filtering the white LED light for yellow/amber only would throw away at least 2/3 of the white light generated, maybe more, you've replaced between one and three watts creating white-filtered equivalent yellow/amber light with 15 watts dedicated to yellow/amber only. Effectively, you should have five to fifteen times the lumens of yellow/amber light compared to filtering the light from the white LED's.

That should be something to see!
