I like the matte look of the wheels but I'd be afraid that track driving would just melt that plastic and sling it all over the place.

Probably not, I ran GMR canyon in 100 degree weather and they held up fine. Put some clear on them after and you should be fine.

ic, just spray evenly and do multiple coats. Dont' rush it. Once you sprayed in a spot move on to the rest of the hood, then go back and do another coat w/ the same technique.

I am thinking about doing this myself in a few days. Would like to hear some more long term reviews.

I am going to order the Plasti-Dip tomorrow. I am painting my 18" SSR Type C's white, like some posted in this thread. My question is should I order 3 or 4 cans of "white" and 1 or 2 cans of "clear"? My car is a garage queen and the wheels can be cleaned after every time it is taken for a drive. Let me know ASAP. Thanx.

All you have to do is start picking at it with your nail. Once it starts to tear you can peel it off. I have had my V1's platidiped for almost 6 months not and no issues. Also cleaning it is so easy just use tire cleaners and go.
