Early S2000s, late S2000 suspension
Everyone knows old S2000's suffer certain suspension issues, if you put late S2000 suspension in an early model, will you be happy?
Or go for some bespoke suspension so you don't smack the aftermarket exhaust all over inconvenient lumps in the road??!

the ap1 suspension is absolute garbage. very stuff and doesn't handle all that well for how stiff it is. The ap2 handle very nice and is comfortable. The CR is stiff as shit but handles better then both.

there have been threads about this conversion before.
the ap1 suspension suffers from bump steer. you can resolve this issue by getting a bump steer kit or exchanging the whole suspension assembly for an ap2.

OK...to do the "full" AP2 suspension swap (ie a-arms as well) would also require the AP2 rear subframe if you want to get rid of the bumpsteer with OEM parts.
If you just want springs and shocks...well, there's better solutions out there. The Bilstein PSS9 coilover is decent for a less expensive coil over and provides a tollerable ride for street use. Add a rear bumpsteer kit and you will be happy. Just don't go crazy with lowering if you don't want to scrape.
If you really want an AP2 shock/spings/sways...I wouldn't choose anything other than the CR. But make sure you change the wheel/tire to use 255 at the rear. Then add the bumpsteer kit and again you will be happy.

I stick with what I have said. For how uncomfortable the ap1 is, it is not at the top in the handling department. The ap2 feels like it is just as good and it is much more comfortable. The cr has uncomfort written all over it, but it handles well so its a good trade off.
On a side note, i want to lower my cr a little, but I don't want to replace the good springs with shittier springs that would give me a better look and sacrifice handling. Any suggestions?

Non-CR AP2s are more comfortable and more forgiving, but they don't handle better than the AP1 in the hands of a very good driver.
EDIT: BTW...the winning CR at last year's Nats beat the next nearest s2k (an AP1 of course) by only .023 sec from a combined 82 sec 2 day event.
