Yes the rear brackets have to be taken out if you take the hardtop off, and want to put your soft top up. You can leave them there if you don't want to put your soft top up, but they will be sticking out and look a little rediculous haha. It's not hard at all to take them out though. Maybe 10 min maximum per side.

If you want to put the OEM hardware on, yes those are the main 2 things you need. Yes if you want to have extra latches so you have a set on your soft top, and a set on your hardtop you will need to buy another set of those also.

hello guys... i'm new in this forum ... i just got a 2001 s2k and I need to realign my top. It seems that the top isnt align to the car and im having a hard time to put it on place. anybody knows how to do it, I have pics. it looks to me that the top is too much to its right, and there is a 2mm gap between my r.f window to the wheatherstrip. and my l.f window is scratching the top ( a piece of paint came off). and i already strip 2 bolts!!!. is anyone knows how to fix it, i will apreciate it.

This is not the VIS top, but the top that spyder sells which according to other reviews the fitment in better than VIS. With the seal like that i can see this gaps.

NOTE: i'm using the small seal.

I spoke to alberto, and he recommend to install the seal like this. Now with the seals like this the top will seat flush, rear gaps are gone, but i still see little side gaps. The seal need to be siting on top of something? right now my rear seal in not, is just there.

Ehh I wouldnt say his fits better because the VIS fits great, fitment is pretty much the same between his and the VIS one. Did you have someone put their weight on the top, then bolt the sides down? To get the gaps gone I had my brother put all of his weight on the top right there and then I just tightened the bolts on the inside and it sealed right up. It takes more adjustment with the small seal like that but is possible, I added another seal on mine that is more like a foam material and put it on top of my seal like yours, and it made it a lot easier to seal up, and the top still sits flush in the rear.
