Default Cost of Gears?

Now. I have a 2001 S2000. It's currently bone stock. Really the only things i'd like to do is gears.

I've decided on 4.30's or 4.44's as i want to retain 0-60 in 2 gears.

Now for the question. I know the cost of the gears themselves, but what about installation and such. I know it's not an easy install, and it's not something i'd like to take on. What's a good quote for installation of these.

Also reinforced differential and cryo'ing the gears...

You can also get an idea of the cost on hardtopguy.com.

Thanks. Costs about as much as a used turbo kit for a true built rear

Not too bad hehe.

I bought my 4.77 geared diff from hardtop guy. tHE DIFF WITH GEARS WAS $950 PLUS $100 FOR CRYO TREATMENT AND THEN $55 for the speedo calibrator. With tax and shipping was like $1200 to my door about and then I had to ship my old diff back to him which cost $40 in shipping charges.
I would go with a higher gear if your going to get them though. 4.44 I wouldn't would make much of a noticeable difference at all. But yeah to keep 0-60 in 2nd gear would have to go that way. Why do you need 2nd to still be in 2nd gear for ? Just curious.

Puddymod (Ben) is a fantastic guy to deal with!! HIGHLY recommended!

^and in response to this guy right above me, I believe he wants to achieve a 0-60 run, only using 1st and 2nd gear, without having to upshift into 3rd..

lol, sucks to be me though, I have an AP2, which already (stock) puts you at having to upshift into 3rd for a 0-60mph run.. PLUS I'm running 4.77's!!!

Yeah I know he mentioned that just wondering what the reason for needing to be in 2nd gear to 60 mph. Means nothing in racing or anything unless for an auto x or something never goes over that speed or something.

because i'd like to retain that run. shifting 3 times to get to 60, i already have that kind of fun in my civic si. Which has the exact same 1st 3 gears as a stock ap2

1st 35 or so 2nd 57 3rd 78.

I think ap2's are about that right?

I guess i could get 4.56's but that's just so much damn shifting. I'd like to retain 0-60 in 2 gears, so the gears still feel long like they do stock.

I will say i doubt that i won't notice much difference in the low end with 4.44's as opposed to stock 4.10's dude...

of course 4.56's will definitely feel faster, but for some reason i'd like to retain 0-60

Well I have 4.77's the difference is pretty nice but nothing crazy so I am sure I would be very disappointed with 4.44's. It is a very small mechanical advantage above stock. Like 4% or something I think. You should feel something but nothing that will make you say wow or anything. Just might get off the line slightly faster than before. With 4.77's I still find myself wanting more gearing.
But if 0-60 means the world to you go for the 4.44's. Should notice a little more umph I guess.
