Default Convertible top straps

Anyone know about how much the 2 elastic straps that pull the front of the top back are? Would the dealer be able to get them? I just bought a new top and I want to take care of everything while its all apart.

Either way would work for me. I want to do the job this Friday while my friend will be at the garage with his 3000gt vr4. Im changing his trany oil if he helps me with my top. (I think its fair lol). Ill give the sewing shop a chance first then order if I have to.

Thanks guys.

modifry straps are bad ass. easy to install, and work way better then the oem ones. just be careful when your cutting.

I recently replaced mine with some that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. Drilled out the rivets, installed strap, riveted back in, job done. It was a pretty simple job and cost about $5. I also doubled up on the straps for extra longevity. If you are interested in doing the job I could dig up some details.

There's really no reason to 'rig' something up for a fix. They straps are easily replaced, especially if you have a extra set of hands to help out for 15min.

I used 1 1/2" elastic strap (Hobby Lobby) and replaced the rivets with 5/32" rivets (AutoZone).

Fortunately, I had a rivet gun for the job. If you choose to do the job yourself, the rivets guns are very inexpensive.

Hobby Lobby or Walmart also carries an elastic material that works good on this for $5. After we put a new top on my friends car, we did this. Still working great!
