Chrome valve cover

I had my valve cover Powdercoated PPG Chrome by a local shop. Total cost for PC + sandblasting was $70. It's not real chrome though if that is what you are actually looking for.

Beside the valve cover, I have more pieces that I need to be chromed. Chroming is expensive stuff, hoping someone know a reasonable chrome shop.

I talked to a shop about it. They wold have been willing to do it, but only if the cover was brand new (never used). They did not want the trapped oil in the cover to mess up their tanks. I want to say they would have done it for less then 200.

I had mine chrome plated by Advanced Plating Inc., they did a great job.

It was around $200.00, but my valve cover was already stripped and polished, which will add to the cost.

Nothing better than the old chrome plating. Look classy than powder coat.

Is your heat shield painted?, plated? powder-coated?
I'm jealous of you guys with the polished intakes!! They look fantastic!

The heat shield is coated with Jet Hot, which is the same coating on my Rick's header. It is as close to chrome as you can get. I am able to touch the header within 10 minutes after I turn off the engine. I had all the head shield coated even the ones that cover the converter.

I haven't seen chrome on a car since the early 90's. Oh the chrome grills and wheel well covers. Those were the days, loud stereo systems and lots of chrome.
