Blown shock = new suspension opportunity!
My front right shock is leaking, so it's days are numbered. I've got 55k mi on the car, so I figure rather than buy two new front shocks I should get an aftrmarmket setup and lower the car.
So, what should I be looking at? I like the stock ride but wouldn't mind dripping the 1" or so. I mainly GT and some autocross.

Yea we really need to know your budget.
If you are only looking to lower the car a bit then you can get the Bilstein PSS kit for under a grand. If you want to adjust the compression/dampening then the Bilstein PSS9's are about $1350. I'd say do some research....there is a lot of crap out there and you don't want to do suspension 2 or 3 times.

Budget wise, this is my thought process, as I haven't looked into it yet.
I have a leaky shock, so i need to buy at least two OEM shocks. What does that cost?
If I'm replacing the fronts, I should replace the rears as well, so what is the cost of four OEM shocks?
Once the shocks and springs are all off the car, why not maybe upgrade springs for a 1" lower ride height? Maybe go with OEM shocks and lowering springs?
I don't need adjustable and I'm not tracking the car, so lets say $1k ballpark?
I have zero insight into cost and what to get right now because i haven't thought about it until today when I inspected the shock and found the leak.
I like the OEM ride, so I figure there aren't many options that will give me that ride quality and 1" drop.
After reading here for an hour, it sounds like Eibachs, maybe Swift, springs, with Koni yellows, maybe Bilsteins, are the way to go.

A single shock cost me 215 bucks shipped. So two is 430. all four will set you back around 800-900.
If the rears are not leaking, no point in relacing them. 55k miles isn't THAT much. Bounce on the back of the car... if it keeps bouncing, its bad, otherwise, why waste money?

Koni Yellows and Ground Control springs. I like them and the car rides just fine. Was able to drop to about a 1.5 finger gap and no rubbing or riding on bumpstops

Maybe I'll start by swapping the shocks all around, and then do springs a bit later...

pss9 are the best bet if you want a stock ride. the adjustability allows you to have that and go stiffer if you'd like. i actually think on full soft it's softer than stock, but it's been a while since i sold my pss9.
the thing about the pss9 you might want to consider it for is that it comes with a lifetime warranty. if you're planning on keeping the car for a long time and keeping the same setup (you've done 55k on stock suspension already...) it might just end up being a good investment
i bought mine for 1250 shipped on ebay from a company that was on bilstein's distributor list, but that was a while ago and i'm not sure how exchange rates translate into this. good luck!
