Most likely they will chip. Its just like cheap spray painted wheels, over time little rocks hit them and they start to chip. Thats why I powdercoated mine. Iv had them for a while with no problem!

I would never pay $80 just for some black oem lugs. I powdercoated mine myself and so far they havent "chipped" or anything. The only cost to me was the cost of the powder and a little bit of my time.

Heres mine with the faces powdercoated black chrome.

On the car

what was the process you went through to powdercoat them yourself?

did it require any baking?

they turned out really nice and i think i want to do it to my car.

Yes powdercoating involves baking them. Here is a thread to my DIY Powdercoating. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=770784&st=0

It shows all the stuff you need and the steps to do it. Its fairly easy to do, just time consuming. I barely put that set of lugs up for sale and already sold them yesterday.

Holy shit that suzuka AP1 looks tite, great job on the lug nuts.

Since painted lugs are prone to chipping, I wonder if using a resilient paint like one intended for vinyl upholstery would be better. Most paints dry to a hard, therefore brittle finish. I may try it since my anodized blue lugs are fading after only a few months.

Just put black CR lugs/locks on my car from HTG. Way overpriced, but I was sick of the stock chrome lugs.
