I had my exhaust resonator cut too. I will try to post videos of before and after, but overall I liked the slightly extra sound from doing this (esp. when warmed up) It was most noticable at the mid ranges (3.5-4.5k), but noticeable at start up & low revs too. At high end, I would say the engine sound masks any extra sounds from the exhaust.

*edit: notice how in the 3rd (last) picture the cutout is replaced by new black piping

How does the modifications to the stock exhaust affect fuel economy?

It doesn't... unless you give it more gas now to hear the sound.

Ughh, I think it sounds horrible without the resonator. I was running stock exhaust with a berk TP and it sounded ok at certain RPM's. It sounded like a G35 a bit. To each his own though.

It's too raspy w/o resonator, and it gets worse when you slap test pipe on the car...

Just leave it alone so you can reuse it when you want to sell the car and just invest in aftermarket exhaust

That is a drone killer. Most aftermarket exhausts do not incorporate this, besides Amuse on their more streetable exhausts and I believe HKS has one in some fashion at the rear of the exhaust.

Somebody up above mentioned Helmholtz, do a google search on the word and you should get a clear understanding on why Honda incorporated this.

That is the OEM Helmholtz resonator. Does not create any noise reduction, just drove reduction. Not worth removing unless you are transplanting to an aftermarket exhaust

How come more people don't do this? I've thought about throwing it in my invidia v3 once I get it. You hear complaining all the time about how invidias and such have terrible drone.... so why not slap this on there to help?
