Does anyone have a favorite tow hook license plate mount? I'd really like one that can easily be swapped for/combined with a tow hook mount for cameras or an actual tow hook.

 

Ok, I bought this one and installed today.
The main bolt appears to be aluminum, so I used marine non-metallic anti-sieze when installing it, I didn't want it to fuse into the tow hook hole. Unfortunately I'm going to have to keep a pair of wrenches in the the car now in case I need to take it off, but they are much cheaper than getting the similar $85 platypus mount that only requires one small wrench.

The bolt is a bit long, instead of being at an angle it's designed to stick far enough out so that the plate can be parallel with the axles despite being on the curve of the bumper. I would have designed this differently to fit closer to the bumper at an angle.

So far it seems good, except the area you put the wrench on to screw it in and out of the bumper is half inside the bumper, which makes fitting the wrench difficult when you need to take it completely off. Definitely do NOT overtorque, the bolt is soft. I highly recommend using marine non-metallic anti-sieze, I called the company and that's what their sponsored race team uses on their off-road cars.

 

I went to HD and got nuts and bolts to make my own, using the stock tow hook as the base.

 

I didn't think to use the stock tow hook as a base. I may do that to tighten up the spacing between the mount and bumper.
