Default Best springs, or no springs at all?

I do not have the funds to dedicate for struts or coilovers. I was thinking of doing springs. Some cars springs are 100% safe and do not hurt anything on the car, just make it look better.

What springs do you recommend for an AP1?

I want a conservative drop (meaning not slammed so it looks sloppy) and the best ride quality and a set that is going to harm my stock components the least until I get the cash for koni's or something.

Why would you recommend or not recommend springs and what ones/how much?

There is an EXCELLENT spring/suspension thread here, probably best to read through that first.

Congrats on the purchase

Are springs going to hurt my handling or compromise the stock struts set up or is it safe?

I always just heard it decreases longevity by a little of the struts but I can live with that.
