go to walmart to check out those slim motorcycle battery, it's not as fancy but it's very reliable and cheap
I agree 100%. RX-7 guys have done this for years with the rotary. If you want a lightweight battery, a motorcycle battery is money. HOWEVER, remember they won't have the cranking amps of a regular battery. So, life is decreased but it's a far cheaper alternative to a dry cell.

Good luck!

The ETX16L looks pretty spiffy to me. Size and weight difference.

Just curious on the CCA difference. Havnt looked at my battery in a while lol.

LOL mind = blown

For the past minute I couldn't understand WTF was going on. Then I realized that someone must have voted and that bumped the thread up.

I was like "uhh I posted that a long time ago, how could it be at the top? WHERE AM I? did I just travel back in time?,etc"

+1 for the Deka ETX16L

Works great and I've never had any problems starting. I considered the PC680 too but a local member had one and had problems due to the colder weather. I'm glad I chose the Deka over the Odyssey.

you don't want to go to far out of the OEM spec for CCA since the alternator is cored to charge the battery with a specific CCA

So the Odyssey 925 will be overkill for your alternator and if you go for short drives will cause issues.
cca has nothing to do with the alternator and charging system. you can run a battery with more or less cca without much issues. you can run a battery with even less cca than what is oem if the weather isnt too cold. cca is only need when its at a certain temp and lower

The Odyssey PC680 has lasted me more than 2 years with the only issue being that it doesn't like to sit for long periods of time un-used (I went 2 weeks without driving my car). The car is garaged in socal so I don't have to worry about cold starts. I have 800 watt amp that powers my component speakers and it runs great. The battery doesn't like to run accessories when the power is turned off for more than 5-10min, and forget teaching people to drive stick in your car (not that you want to do that...) but the battery has maybe enough juice to fix three stalls within a 10min period.

I have the PasswordJDM anodized carrier and it cleans up the engine bay nicely.

I went w/an Optima red top in the trunk. I have a yellow top that goes between my rock crawler and tractor that I've had for over 10 yrs and it still cranks the old deisel even after sitting for a couple months. I have a red top in my Toy pick up, can't go wrong w/an optima. They are heavy but I cut a lot of weight from the car (no top or motors, aftermarket full exhaust) so it's a wash really. Plus having the heavy turbo up front I figured it would even the weight out a bit puting the batt in the truck. Works out well and is relatively easy to do.
