week 1 5/9/15: car was parked since install on 5/1/15, have not started the car at all. Started the car & everything was fine. Drove the car for about 30 miles, turned on & off no problem.

5/22/15 week 3: i try to drive this car more than just the weekends, last driven (started) on sunday 5/17/15, started right up this morning no hesitation or dim lights at all & made the 10 mile course to my work.

Just picked up a ETX16L (terminals seem to be a better location more comparable to stock with the L version). Curious to see how it works. Should save between 9-11lb and about 80 CCA less than factory.

Well I should not have ignored the users who said the ETX16 was the way to go, as it is. The ETX16L has the poles reversed as im sure many of you know, if you put the battery in in the orientation of the poles from factory then the ETX16L just doesn't leave enough room to put the terminals on. Much better off getting the ETX16 and spinning it 180 degrees.
That said, I measured my Walmart Special battery at 27.8lb and the Deka ETX16L at 17.2. That's a cool saving of 10.6lb. 325CC amps and with post terminals, shipping and the battery I walked away for <$100 spent. Quite pleased. I popped it in for testing and car fired up no problem. Real test will come with time and temperature.
Cheers

I've always Interstate batteries in all my cars, including my s2k. If you're getting an OEM size & spec replacement, go for the Interstate (or Costco, whose batteries are now Interstates).
That said, I now have a Shorai lightweight battery in my S. It needs more maintenance than an OEM battery, but it was the easiest 25 lbs I've ever dropped!

Since the switch of suppliers, Costco no longer sells a battery that fits the S, in the stock configuration.

Has anyone heard of the Ohm battery? I caught wind of this through the car mailing list at work. Thought it's interesting but haven't committed any money to it.
