Back from the dyno for the 1st time

im pretty sure that is my actual afr, the 1st with 15.36 was with temperature 5 spark plugs, then when we switched them with ngk 7 temps it dropped to about 14.7, but shouldnt it be around 11 or 12 for an ap1?

11-12 is pretty rich for a n/a setup at full power. 12ish is good for peak torque on an n/a setup but should lean to around 13:1 at peak power

the weird thing is that i know that 00-01's are suppose to run rich, so can there be any reason as to why im running so lean? i use fuel injector cleaner once in a while, could a bad fuel pump result in this?

well it could be numerous things, highly tuned motors can run extremely lean but its all in the tune and the gas.

as for running lean it could just be a overused sensor from the dyno shop, or you could in actuality be running lean. if you are it could be an oxygen sensor from your car

charts are up, notice the dip in 7000rpm from the before chart.

after the valve adjustment and test pipe went up to 178, vtec engagement is a little better still coming in at around 5800. is it normal for the power to just cliff diving like that after 8200? i would think it would at least stay up there. maybe this will give someone a better clue as to why im dynoing so low...

the power falling off is somewhat normal, i wouldnt be stressed about the power you are making as long as the car feels like it is running well. as for your a/f i might try to get it on another dyno as the fuel map looks smooth like an oem ecu should. the sensor they used may have just been overused and needed a replacement. so many dyno shops go through sensors due to running alot of racegas through alot of cars

If those are your actual afr's , that is scary lean. Blow a hole in your piston lean. Considering your HP and tq both are so low compared to where they should be, I would have to say your starving for fuel. You should be about 190hp stock on your year. Power drops off fast after 8300 normally, this is where your cars hp should peak normally as well.

You need to get this figured out before driving the car anymore. I have a 01, stock afr's depending on rpm seem to float between 12.0 -12.4. .....13.4 is right about where you want to be for maximum hp safe ratios for your car. 15 is blow up time at WOT. if you have to drive it, baby it....seriously dude!!

When I dyno'd my car before utilizing my new 02 bung for afr's, the machine couldn't sniff properly from my tail pipes and read 18! but I made 215 at the time so we new it was inaccurate.

Here is a couple things off the top of my head to look into.

-remove feul injectors and have them sent out to be cleaned and flow benched. Usually about $20 per

-check for any vacuum leaks around hoses, throttle body, listen for any hissing sounds.

-fuel pump/regulator/fuel pressure test

-ECU or MAP problem?

To help you determine that these are indeed the AFR's the car is putting out and for future mods and dyno's, I would highly recommend you take your car to a muffler shop and have them drill a hole in your test pipe right next to the factory sensor and weld in a new bung fitting for an external o2 sensor for readings. This is the only reliable way to go. You can use this for installing your own AFR wide band too, not just dyno readings. To do this work cost about $50 average. Takes less then and hour. Unless you have a piggyback device leaning out your car, you oem ecu shouldn't lean out that much

can anyone confirm that that afr is unsafe to drive at? the car feels good and drives fine. maybe its like what somewhat else said saying that the 02 sensor from the shop was messed up since they did just probe the tail pipe.

yes a 15:1 is very unsafe, however like said before, a stock ecu should never lean a car out like that. i still would be very cautious and get another opinion from another wideband on there.
