I believe that is just the manufacturer part number (Magnaflow 59959)and manufacture date (4/2011). I'm not sure what the N/CE is, but if you check Summit Racing's web site, it says it is not California legal.

Oh lord. Well, I knew it was a "universal cat", but didn't realize it was easily identifyable as a Magnaflow part. I'm assuming the Asura portion is the welded metal parts connecting the header to exhaust, and the Magnaflow part is the element within?

Yes. There are very few companies that actually manufacture catalytic converter cores (Magnaflow, Vibrant, Eastern Metallic, etc.), so all the companies selling bolt-on HFC's for the S2000 are using a universal catalytic converter made by someone else.

BTW, has anyone measured the opening in the flange where it mates up to the header? I don't think it would be compatable with an OEM donut gasket if it was truly 3" all the way to the header flange.

From Berks site

"As of January 1st, 2009, performance high flow cats are intended for off-road use only in the state of California."

Damn California. This accomplishes nothing but pushing some alternative agenda. The bottom line is, someone is making money off this, and it's not the poor citizens.

You almost got me started
Anyway, it's total bs and I'd much rather see people run a highflow cat vs a test pipe. If a highflow cat isn't legal then why is anyone going to waste money on one when they can just run a test pipe.

LOL that is a funny emoticon. No reason to have a girl fight on this one though!
My mission right now is to find out if Asura ever had a CARB EO number in the first place (some say they have one on the part). Its just a quest for knowledge/clarification, and that's my only agenda.

I'm no tree-hugger, but I think our world is a much nicer place due to catalytic converters! I ran a test pipe for years for performance reasons, but I'm determined to run an HFC from now on.

Smell? That's why I would never run a TP
