AP2 Transmission conversion
I need input from ONLY people who have done this mod. I want to know if this mod affects the speedometer at all, and if so how do you correct it. I was also wondering if there are any other parts necessary for the installation. I would prefer to keep the stock rear end and drive shaft. ( for money reasons) Thank you for your recommendations.

I'm currently running a 05 tranny.
Yes the speed is slightly off. I used the yellow jacket from modifry to correct the speed change.
If you only want to change out the tranny and nothing else, be sure to swap out the flange from your AP1 Tranny onto your AP2 so it could be mated to your AP1 Driveshaft.

IMO, hardly worth the effort unless you need a new trans anyway.
Basically, you get 4% "better" (lower, or numerically higher) gearing in 1-4, and 2% taller (numerically lower) in 6th. Personally, I like to have closer overall ratios, but that said the AP2's ratios are only wider between 4-5 and 5-6. Carbon synchros in the AP2 trans are s'posed to give smooover shifting, as well, I suppose... Anyway, for *me*, I'd rather keep the AP1's closer ratios.
No reason the speedo should be off. With the same diff gearing and rear tire diameters as AP1, AP2 trans should have the same speedo drive ratio. Checking Majestic Honda's online parts, '01 and '05 have the same part number for the speedo drive (28810-PCJ-014).

I'd be surprised if they took the speedo drive off of any shaft other than the final output shaft, after the secondary reduction. In which case the secondary reduction doesn't matter, only diff ratio and tire diameter will change speedo reading.
Majestic Honda online parts fiche shows speed sensor p/n is the same for '01 and '05.

No, I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't done this myself, but from what I've gathered, it doesn't look to me like the speedo should be affected.

I used 2 different model of nav to verify that the speed needed to be recalibrated. Wasn't by much, but it was needed.
Also, there's always going to be skeptics about doing this mod. It definitely isn't for everyone. Nothing wrong with either logic. However, if you do decide to swap out the tranny, I suggested you take that opportunity to upgrade your clutch, lighter flywheel, reinforced PP, and get a new throw out bearing since you're going to have the tranny out anyway.
