AP2 FLYWHEEL WEIGHT/AP1 FLYWHEEL WEIGHT
Anyone know why does AP2 flywheel weighs more than Ap1 by a significant amount.
Some members uses AP1 flywheel with their aftermarket clutch in and ap2.
What is the advantages of having a lighter flywheel and why AP1 FLywheel?

It probably works with the clutch delay valve to lower the drivetrain shocks by slowing down the shifting.
A lighter flywheel means your engine is going to free rev faster. if you're rev matching on a down shift the engine will get there faster. If you go with too light of a lightwheel though, daily stop-n-go driving will be tough.

I think most people use the ap1 flywheel b/c it's lighter but not too light and b/c its oem. Oem is almost always best.
I know if I ever have to replace my clutch I'm removing the delay valve and putting an ap1 flywheel in there.

i am going to use ap1 flywheel then.
I dont know about taking off the delay valve if its for safety purposes, to safeguard the tranny.
anyone with AP1 flywheel here with an AP2? Does it chatter?

The clutch is what causes chatter, not the flywheel....unless the flywheel is greasy or warped or something.

i thought they are the same i looked at the part numbers and stuff and they match up, they are both 22100-pcx-005. Actually the Clutch, Flywheel, and Pressure plate are all the same part numbers

I'm pretty sure the AP1/AP2 flywheels are 14/22 lbs, respectively.
I'm considering the Comp. Clutch 11.5 pounder. About the same price as a new AP1. Not sure what the 'ideal' weight is though for our car for combo street/occasional track duty. Have gotten differing opinions. Based on what people have said, I'm surmizing that 10-12lbs is the zone.
A little extra work, but I will have the flywheel and pp balanced at a local machine shop. Guess they could always lighten the AP1 a couple of pounds, too (not sure).

No that's wrong, the pressure plate and disk are the same part numbers, but the flywheel part numbers are completely different. AP1 flywheel is aprox 7 pounds lighter than the AP2
