A common question asked by thousands I'm sure, but after weeks of research I just can't decide.
I know there's an "Offical Intake" thread on here but some personal experience suggestions would be great.

If this is not the place to post this, please point me in the right direction as I'm new to the forums!

Will post some info on my car/location/budget to help get some suggestions.

S2k year: 2003
Location: Pennsylvania weather
Budget: 400$ max for now
Goal: Looking more for just sound quality for now

Currently been looking towards the following: If anyone has tried these, please share your experience. Or lead me to potentially better options in your opinion based off of my budget

K&N sounds great.

Quite a few people have hydrolocked with the cold air. There's a hole you can plug, but for the negligible gains, would recommend the K&N.

Try blocking the resonator port on your stock intake first and see if you get the desired sound you're looking for.

Add a snorkel to the oem box and call it a day, cold air and no hydrolock issues, I love mine.

I bought one, luckily, with the K&N already installed. It's the Carbon fiber one.. Not a true cold air intake but it has the little box around the filter. Sounds great and looks great in the engine bay. Makes VTEC explode lol

The little box around the filter is suppose to seal when the hood closes. Not sure how well it works though. I have an K&N intake as well. No complaints.

I have a side question about the K&N. I did a little research but I still am skeptical about the heat soak. It's to my understanding that you could add a heat shield to fix it but the days of summer could get higher than 115 degrees...would this be a problem?

K&N comes with a heat shield, but it absolutely doesn't seal it out of the engine compartment 100%, and on hot days, you will get heatsoak bogging upon initial takeoff, but once things get moving, you should be fine. whoa long sentence.

I've run K&N FIPK for 150k miles, and I'm happy with it. Big plus is it's very easy to remove for cleaning, or to access other parts of the engine bay that it may be blocking.

Thanks for sharing your experience with it. I live in inland California so it could get up to 115 degrees during most summer's days...I think I will go with an AEM (since it never rains...and oh, draught...) or CT Engineering intake, which, unfortunately, isn't going to be very loud at all.
