I bought the 8000lb ramps from Advanced Auto Parts. I place 2x4s in front of the ramps themselves and the car goes up just fine without scraping. The black guard underneath rubs a bit, but thats it; no paint touches anything.

I roll forward onto the ramps, stick a floorjack underneath the diff to raise it up, then place jack stands on the rear jack points. Makes the car easy to work on.

EDIT: Oh and I'm stock ride height but more 2x4s stacked in a stair-like fashion would be able to work on even lowered cars.

Yeah was trying to find something to avoid using wood. So going to either get the low profile jack or just buy the tomioka ramps from kamispeed. Those are low profile enough to drive right up onto and allow a jack to get under the sides as well as the front jack point.

You may want to do a google search on them.

There have been some absolute HORROR stories with these where they just shatter under load.

Ouch yeah not good!! I would only be using them to get the jack under the car not to support it while I am under the car though. I think I will just go ahead and get the tomioka ramps from kamispeed. $65 shipped for them and they even fit in the trunk which is nice.

thats what I use... my front lip still wont make it over them but I can back onto the ramps and get enough clearance for my low pro jack

Well crap ... now I'm not going to feel comfortable under my car again, even though it's probably just a competitor spreading false rumours about Rhino Rams over the Interweb.

Does anyone have a link to the Kami Speed ramps?

FWIW they don't make it under my CR's lip - worked fine with my STI/RX8/FD but not on the CR at stock height.. I ran into the threads about them shattering too when I first picked them up, I pretty much just drove up them and stuck jackstands under 'just in case'..
