Another Soft Top? or Hardtop

Another Soft Top? or Hardtop
OK, I have now fell victim to people slashing my soft top. Now I am at a cross road, should I purchase a hardtop or a softop? The hardtop would be great but it kind of eliminates the use of a convertable at anytime I want. I know its winter right now, but once summer hits I still need a soft top because it would still need to be replaced. If I buy another softtop, I would still be at risk for someone slashing it again. ANy recommendations. If money wasn't a problem I would do both, but I only have enough for 1 or the other. ANy suggestions?

I am in the same situation right now, and decided the soft top was more practical. The chance of rain, and the lack of security make top down rides a little less "free" with a slashed top.I can drive, but I can't really go anywheres public. I know the soft top doesn't really offer all that much security, but at least it keeps honest people honest. Add in the storage space, and the need for a two person install, and the hardtop becomes more of hassle for me.
That being said, I would LOVE to have both. I think the hardtops for the S are some of the best looking of the verts. Sorry about your mishap, hope it all works out for you.
EDIT: FWIW I got a robbins colorfast glassback, with the upgrade straps, for $650 from www.topsonline.com. Good company. They actually called me on the phone to explain everything after I finished my order. I don't know if you're looking to do it yourself, but thought I'd share.

There's a "Robbins Top install" DIY here in one of the faq's. I'm receiving my top this week, and won't install it until next week. If you're handy with a wrench I see no reason why you couldn't do it yourself, but yes you can pay someone to put it on. Price it with shops around town. It may not be worth the trouble of sourcing the top yourself if your using an installer. I know the couple of shops around my part of town wanted $1200 labor!

Im in the same boat right now (minus the slashed soft top). I just have the small tears on the sides, but Ive decided to save for the HT since I can keep the softtop installed in case it rains while the HT is off.
