ok how come when i redline the car and let the "redline indicator" blink twice and hit the next gear im still in vtec and the clutch DID NOT slip. You can stay in vtec when shifting WITHOUT slamming gears like a maniac lol. and besides you shouldnt be street racing to begin with lol ohh not to be an ass but VTECH is a phone......
I meant racing on the track.
I said "even when not slamming" in my previous comment.
LOL, VTECH is a phone! oversight on my part.
When you shift near redline (while already going fast) do you drop the clutch at all?

It all comes down to timing. If you get on the gas before the clutch is fully disengaged, you're going to burn the clutch form slippage - if you learn to time your pedal movements correctly (for the car, not saying those who have CDV problems are bad drivers), you shouldn't have a problem - this is why some people have the CDV problems and other don't.
Personally, when I first got the car, I had a lot of problems with the CDV - including hitting the rev limiter through 4th and 5th while the - the revs would just shoot up and I wouldn't be gaining any speed at all. Redline in 5th going 70 - right...
Granted, this was when doing some 3rd-4th gear pulls on the highway against a buddy in his AP1. I thought I broke something, because the car just smelt horrible - come to find out it was just unburned fuel burning in my cat.
I've since learned to time my shifts better, and the problem has been eliminated.

did the CDV mod on my 04 and its definitely worth it.. only roadblock you might run into is getting that stupid clip out of the slave cylinder.. took a bit, but I eventually got it out..

I dunno, with a turbo I would rather be a tad slower through shifts, and wear my clutch, then have a 10th of a second quicker shift and BLOW MY REAR DIFFERNTIAL
i did this mod, its awesome. i took the cdv out of my 08 slave cylinder. FREE MOD!!! cant go wrong. its just a pain in the ass to get the ring clip out to take the valve out. but definatley worth the heassle for a free upgrade, IMO
its not a necessary mod but feels so much better than stock, feels like a whole new clutch, im so glad i did it and dont know why honda would try to ruin the new cars just so ladies can drive them easily, lol

I haven't been driven to do this mod yet but you can't slam they guys who do it. It is a mechanism that slightly insulates the car's response. Taken to an extreme, why not drive an automatic tranny? So I get the point and value. If you want a raw sports car then you don't want the CDV.
